Answers about the site

It is a little surreal, we'll admit. We did spend a while on the site name even if it does not show, but have you tried registering a domain name lately? It's pretty hard to find an English word that is not taken and actually a lot harder than you'd think to make one up which does not sound stupid. We could have gone with our names in some way, but that struck a more serious note than we wanted.

So what animal would you be if you could be any animal? I'd be a Moose (did you see that coming?), noble, majestic, and just a little bit silly. I don't think Mooses (Meece? Moosi?) take themselves too seriously and we don't like to either. Turns out that Moose dot anything is taken so we were forced to add a number, and no other one would fit.

It has been suggested that maybe we could have picked an adjective rather than a number, but I've paid my £10 now so we're damn well going to use it. Maybe we'll move in a couple of years time, but then maybe it really does not matter that much...

We welcome any and all feed back, please visit our contact page to get in touch regarding all matters.

I've tried to develop this site using the most up to date web standards I can master. The site layout is created using HTML and CSS, both of which have been validated at the W3C. I did most of my testing in Firefox, where the site looks as it should. Microsoft users might see some elements rendered badly, this is because Microsoft believe they are above following standards the rest of the world have agreed on. I've tried to minimise this but if you are using Explorer I recommend you get Firefox to get the best out of the site. Also you should just get it because it's great, but I'm not here to preach.

If you are viewing the site at a screen resolution less than 800 by 600 you'll find the site does not fit on the screen. At 1024 by 768 the site will fit but the best results are achieved at 1280 by 1024.

I would not say I have anything so well formulated as a privacy policy. Let's call what follows some privacy ramblings. Firstly, any email addresses given through the comments or feedback section will not be published publicly or given to any third party in any other way. I'll only use them to answer queries or contact you for some other specific reasons, so you won't receive any spam from me or any one else.

The more privacy conscious among you will have noticed the site uses cookies too. I use two cookies, the first is a permanent cookie used to try and gauge the number of unique visitors I'm receiving. The second is a session cookie only, which is used as an unobtrusive way to glean what resolution your using. I'm collecting this data to help improve the site in future, no personal information is collected and the data will only be used in aggregate.

We use a variety of kit, all the pictures will tell you what camera they were taken with but, we have a few main boxes. Our current pride and joy is a Canon EOS 20D, a truly fine camera which we have an ever growing collection of lenses for. We also have a Digital Canon IXUS which is a great small "point and click" camera we find is useful for some situations, and we have our trusty old film Canon EOS Elan.

David goes in for the compact, in digatal he uses a 350D , and has an old film Minolta Dynax 4, both great for when you don't want to look like a member of the paparazzi. And for when you do we occasionally have a EOS 1D MarkII pass through our lucky hands.

We believe in the core idea's behind the internet, sharing information and creativity freely. We believe sharing in this way is the most powerful tool in the world right now, be it something small such as a photograph, or something huge such as Wikipedia or Firefox. In this light all the photo's on this site you are free to download (and we're not saying it just cos we can't stop you!) and use in any non-commercial way. However, where ever you do use our photographs in public, we ask that you would provide a link or reference to this site so people can come find more if they wish.

In full legal babble the photo's on this site are available under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 License

Please do not take photo's from this site and put them in any commercial publication or any marketing material with out getting in touch with us first. This is because if we're giving up pictures for free we don't want anyone to have to pay you for them, and so we can control what our images are being used to promote, in particular to ensure our images don't promote anything we disagree with.

If you would like to use our photo's in a commercial setting please get in touch and let us know what your needs are. We'd be happy to discuss providing a licence for you and we'll normally be able to provide you with much better quality images than those here on the site.

If you'd like any of the photos here we're happy to offer prints! If you want to order some prints then please do contact us with what pictures and sizes you'd like and we'll see if we can sort you out something. Normaly we''d be able to provde very good quality up to A3 sort of size, but this can vary. If demand turns out to be high we'll set out some official rates and services but for now we'll just keep it between you and me.

We certainly can, you can commission us to take photos of anything you like, or hire us for the day. If you're organising an event why not ask us along? If it's a local community event and you don't want to hire us, if we're not busy, we might come anyway because we like a day out as much as the next man! If you need promotional shots for a website or other marketing literature we can do that too, we can give you an quote for a complete package, which includes the shoot, post processing and licensing.

Prices will vary wildly depending what we're shooting and what you want to do with the pictures so we cost each job individually. Let us know your requirements and we'll give you a quote.
